Jeanine Abrons

J Abrons profile photoJeanine is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science.  She has two distinct focuses in teaching – 1) writing and editing and 2) global health for underserved patient populations. She currently mentors numerous students in their pursuit of global health related initiatives. She is actively involved in health promotion/health prevention through health screenings, her role as Co-Director of Mobile Clinics, and her work in Dominica where she is currently being licensed. Jeanine displays passion for individualization while coordinating professional engagement, introduction to pharmacy topics in global health, and introduction to travel medicine.


Jeff Cain

Cain profile photoJeff is an Associate Professor & Vice-Chair for the Department of Pharmacy Practice & Science and the Director of Education Technology at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. He teaches pharmacy management, directs the school’s Teaching & Learning Program for pharmacy residents, runs an academia fellowship program, and mentors residents and students on academia rotations. He has worked in the fields of higher education and technology since 1999 and has numerous publications and presentations pertaining to digital media, teaching and learning, instructional technology, and contemporary higher education issues.


Lauren Caldas

Dr. Lauren Caldas is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Outcomes Science at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Pharmacy. After graduating from VCU School of Pharmacy in 2011, Dr. Caldas pursued a residency with the VCU School of Pharmacy Community Pharmacy Residency PGY1 program. In 2012, Dr. Caldas opened and managed the first Kroger Marketplace Pharmacy on the East Coast. She moved to Academia in June 2016 as a Foundation lab faculty member to coordinate the first-year pharmacy students’ Foundations Skill Lab. Dr. Caldas regularly remarks, “The same as we use evidence-based medicine for our patients, we must utilize evidence-based teaching in our instruction. Through SoTL, we create evidence of how our teaching impacts our students’ knowledge, confidence, and perception of the content.” Dr. Caldas has had the pleasure of bringing her SoTL passion to multiple research teams focused on providing student-focused teaching through engaging activities, technology, and collaboration between disciplines and learner levels. Dr. Caldas is Board Certified in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, since 2012. She has enjoyed working collaboratively in clinics with other healthcare professionals since 2013. In July 2020, the VCU Center for Compounding Practice and Research (CCPR) as the Assistant Director. CCPR offers numerous continuing education programs to improve the practice of sterile compounding and pharmacy technician training. In 2022, Dr. Caldas earned her Master of Education with a focus in Educational Leadership. Dr. Caldas’s research interests are in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, compounding, community pharmacy, and utilizing technology in the classroom.


Ashley Castleberry

Ashley is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. She teaches Pharmacology to first and second year students along with coordinating teaching electives and academic APPE rotations for third and fourth year students. Educational scholarship interests include metacognition, reflection, active learning, simulation, OSCEs, and summative examinations. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and playing cars and trains with her sons.


Teri Charrois

Charrois Teri

Dr. Teri Charrois is the Associate Dean of Practice Innovation and Professor of Teaching at UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She holds a BScPharm and MSc from the University of Alberta, as well as a Doctorate in Adult Education from the University of Calgary. She has held prior academic roles at the University of Alberta and Curtin University in Australia. Teri is an award winning educator at both the local and national level, is published in the areas of clinical practice, health services research and pharmacy education. Her research interests include professional identity formation, clinical decision making and pharmacist prescribing.


Jordan Covvey

Jordan Covvey

Jordan is an Associate Professor at Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, PA, where she started her academic career in 2014. She is a health outcomes researcher focused on medicine utilization quality improvement. She teaches courses in healthcare systems, public health/epidemiology, drug literature evaluation, and global health. She has long been involved in research/academic training for pharmacy residents and has held a number of leadership roles within the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, traveling, cooking, and gardening.


Craig Cox

Craig is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Vice Chair of Experiential Programs at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy.  He has been in academia since 2000 and held an experiential administrative position for the past 16 years.  He teaches in the Advanced Cardiology and Critical Care elective courses, but most of his teaching responsibility is as a preceptor for IPPE and APPE students on an adult medicine rotation.  He has held a number of leadership positions within the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and his current research interests are preceptor development and quality assurance/improvement related to experiential education.  In his free time, Craig enjoys spending time with his family, attending sporting events and traveling the world.


 

Mary Douglass Smith

Mary enjoys time at the lake and beach with a good book and her family.


Eliza Dy-Boarman

Eliza is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs at Drake University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. In her role as Assistant Dean, she oversees experiential education for all of Drake University’s health profession programs. Additionally, Eliza leads and teaches multiple courses within the pharmacy program’s continuing professional development course series and directs the Drake University Post-Graduate Teaching and Learning Curriculum. Her scholarship focuses on educational research and the scholarship of teaching and learning. She has also been active in promoting and supporting scholarship across the academy by serving on two pharmacy journal editorial boards. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and two children, leading exercise classes, and baking.


Michael Gonyeau

Professional Photo (002)Michael is a Clinical Professor and serves as the Interim Chair of the Department of Pharmacy and Health Systems Sciences at the Northeastern University School of Pharmacy. He focuses on curriculum and co-curriculum development and delivery, developing/implementing new instructional strategies, methods & technologies, while maintaining a general medicine practice at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Educational scholarship interests include: curriculum and course design/innovation, as well as the scholarship of application.


Kristin Janke

Kristin is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Care & Health Systems and Director of the Wulling Center for Innovation & Scholarship in Pharmacy Education at the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy.  She teaches pharmacy students in the leadership emphasis area, residents in the Pharmaceutical Care Leadership Residency and graduate students in the Social and Administrative Pharmacy Graduate Program.  Her scholarly interests include:  unique methods for student leadership development, enhancing assessment practices in colleges/schools of pharmacy and broadening publication options for the scholarship of teaching and learning.


Cherie Lucas

Cherie HeadshotDr Cherie Lucas, a University of Sydney, Australia alumni, is a Licensed Pharmacist and Nexus Fellow Education Focused Academic at the University of NSW, Sydney Australia (UNSW) in the Faculty of Medicine and Health. As a Nexus Fellow, Dr Lucas is the Nexus between UNSW’s central divisions and the staff who teach and support teaching across Faculties and Schools to enhance educational initiatives and innovations. Dr Lucas was previously a Senior Lecturer at University of Technology Sydney and currently holds two Honorary Adjunct Fellow positions at that institution as well. Dr Lucas resides on the Pharmacy Council of NSW, is a member of five pharmacy related international editorial boards, with two of those editorial boards as an Associate Editor. Dr Lucas has been a Peer Coach/ Editor for Pulses since 2016.


Jennifer Mazan

20231017_154749Jennifer is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove Campus with an ambulatory care practice site in family medicine at the Midwestern University Multispecialty Clinic.  She serves as the course director for several skills-based courses and is committed to ensuring students master the skills required for IPPE and APPE rotations.  Scholarly interests include the development of effective of teaching methods and assessments for various pharmacy skills including patient counseling, and veterinary pharmacy.  In her free time she enjoys, painting, dog obedience training and spending time with her husband and adult children.


Kali M. VanLangen

Kali is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Ferris State University College of Pharmacy with anVanLangen_Headshot Internal Medicine practice at Mercy Health Saint Mary’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is the coordinator for all skills-based assessments in the second and third professional years of the PharmD program. Her educational research interests include assessing students’ readiness to enter Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences and the longitudinal assessment of patient care skills and Entrustable Professional Activities. In her free time, Kali enjoys spending time with her husband and two spunky daughters doing various outdoor activities.
